![]() The exact start and end of the rains are always a little uncertain, but generally, this period is the wettest time of the year. At sunrise, guests can also take hot air balloon safari’s followed by a champagne breakfast. For something closer to home, simply explore the natural trail from camp through the riverine forest or visit with the local Maasai people. Take bush walks along the Mara River or to the top of the Oloololo Escarpment for spectacular views of the reserve. As &Beyond owns the concession, night drives are also possible. Take game drives in the Maasai Mara Reserve and the Kichwa Tembo Concession close to camp where all Big Five roam. Dining here is laid back and a bush dinner is sometimes prepared where guests can gather by the river over drinks and a roaring fire to watch performances by local Maasai warriors. The restaurant and open-air dining space looks out onto the wildlife-rich plains. The eye-shaped pool and gin bar add a modern touch. The lounge is furnished eclectically with leather sofas and armchairs, antique photos and lamps, worn trunks and suitcases and Maasai spears. The communal space is a modern and stylish twist on the classic ‘Out of Africa’ style. The outside deck is a comfortable space overlooking the plains and passing animals. The en suites are huge with stone tiles, outdoor and indoor rain showers, bathtubs and complimentary &Beyond products. The interior space includes a large bed in a dark leather frame, dark wood floors, leather armchairs, a writing desk and a private bar. There are nine tents with secluded private decks shaded within a woodland. The Kichwa Tembo Concession, which is owned by &Beyond, is nearby too where you can see all Big Five and the Great Migration from July to October. Although guests can see wildlife from the comfort of their tents, the Oloololo Gate into the main reserve is less than a mile and a half away and just north of the Mara Triangle. This protected area surrounds the main reserve so expect the same spectacular wildlife with fewer crowds and vehicles. The camp is set within the Mara Conservancy in the southwest of the Maasai Mara.
